    Day 2: Aru to Lidderwat

     Altitude: 2,426 m to 2,780 m (9120 ft). Time taken: 5-6 hours, Distance: 11km


    Day 3: Lidderwat – Shekwas 

    Altitude: 2,780 m to 3,360 m (11023 ft) Time taken: 5-6 hours, Distance: 6.5km


    Day 4: Shekwas – Tarsar Lake

     Altitude: 3,360 m to 3,790 m (12434 ft) Time taken: 3-4 hours, Distance: 5km


    Day 5: Tarsar Lake – Sundersar 

    Altitude: 3,790 m to 3,945 m (12942 ft) Time taken: 4-5 hours, Distance: 5 km


    Day 6: Hike to Sundersar and Marsar Lakes and then descend to Homwas meadows

    Day 1: Srinagar to Aru Valley

    • Altitude: 2,426m
    • Time taken: 3.5 hours' drive

    Your journey begins with a 3- to 4-hour's drive from Srinagar to the charming Aru Valley. Located 12 km beyond Pahalgam, Aru Valley is renowned for its picturesque beauty and serves as the starting point for various treks, including the Tarsar Marsar Trek. Nestled at an altitude of 7959 ft on the banks of the Lidder River, Aru Valley is where you'll spend your first night, immersing yourself in the pristine Himalayan ambiance.


    Day 2: Aru Valley to Lidderwat

    • Altitude: 2,426m to 2,780m
    • Time taken: 6 hours
    • Distance: 11km

    Bid farewell to Aru Valley as you embark on a 10 km ascent along the Lidder River. The trail quickly gains altitude, leading you into a lush, green, coniferous forest for about 5 km. You'll then traverse through open meadow patches, with the west Lidder River accompanying your journey. After passing local Gujjar settlements and freshwater creeks, you'll enter the enchanting Lidderwat valley, where you'll set up camp for the night.


    Day 3: Lidderwat to Shekwas

    • Altitude: 2,780m to 3,360m
    • Time taken: 5 hours
    • Distance: 6 km

    Day 3 sees you trekking for 5.5 km from Lidderwat to Shekwas Valley, taking approximately 5 hours. The trail begins with a climb past clusters of pine trees and clearings. After an hour and a half of ascending, you'll be treated to a stunning view. The path then takes you upwards and to the left, passing Bakarwal shelters and sticking to the right of the river. Crossing a wooden bridge, you'll find yourself on the other side of the Lidder River. A hike along the river, past ancient Silver Birch (Bhoj) trees, leads to the vast grasslands of Shekwas Valley, surrounded by snow-patched cliffs.


    Day 4: Shekwas to Tarsar Lake

    • Altitude: 3,360m to 3,790m
    • Time taken: 5 hours
    • Distance: 5 km

    On Day 4, the trail ascends towards Tarsar Lake, one of the three stunning alpine lakes on this trek. You'll trek westward, with the trail climbing rapidly toward a conical hill. After crossing a stream over boulders, you'll arrive at the grassy glades of Tarsar Lake, a mesmerizing sight. The turquoise waters, surrounded by snow patches, create a dreamlike landscape. Your campsite for the night will be set up by the lake.


    Day 5: Tarsar Lake to Sundersar Lake

    • Altitude: 3,790m to 3,945m
    • Time taken: 5 hours
    • Distance: 5 km

    Day 5 involves a gentle 5 km trek that leads you to the coveted Sundersar Lake and the adjacent valley. The path offers panoramic views as it descends from Tarsar Pass, which is the highest point of the trek. You'll stand at an altitude of approximately 4020 meters, with breathtaking scenery all around. The trek to Sundarsar is equally enchanting, with lush grasslands, small streams, and water ponds. Camp at Sundarsar for the night.


    Day 6: Explore Sundersar & Marsar Lakes, Descend to Homwas

    • A fairly gentle day with some boulder sections
    • Explore Sundersar and Marsar Lakes
    • Trek to Homwas via a different route
    • Camp at Homwas for the night

    Day 6 offers a more leisurely pace as you explore the enchanting Sundersar and Marsar Lakes. The trail involves traversing the Sundersar Lake, reaching the other side, and taking a different route back to Shekwas. After about an hour's walk from Shekwas, you'll reach homwas, where you'll camp for the night.


    Day 7: Homwas to Aru Valley, Return to Srinagar

    • Altitude: 3,505m to 2,426m
    • Time taken: 6 hours
    • Distance: 13 km

    The final day of the trek takes you back along the same route, starting with a quick descent from Homwas to Lidderwat, followed by a return to Aru Valley. After reaching Aru Valley, your trek concludes, and you'll head back to Srinagar by cab, concluding your memorable Tarsar Marsar adventure.

    The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a moderate to challenging trek and requires a certain level of fitness. However, with the right preparation and determination, even beginners can do this trek. But, it is essential to engage in physical training such as cardio, strength, and endurance exercises before the trek. This can also help reduce the chances of altitude sickness. 


    The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a 7-day trek covering a distance of approximately 40 km. The trek starts from the village of Aru and takes you through pine forests, meadows, and high-altitude lakes. 


     The best time to do the Tarsar Marsar Trek is from June to September. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and the trail is accessible. The months of July and August are particularly popular among trekkers as the meadows are in full bloom during this time. 


    Tarsar Marsar Lake is approximately 52 km from Pahalgam. The trek starts from the village of Aru, which is about 12 km from Pahalgam.


    The Tarsar Marsar Trek is open from June to September. However, due to inclement weather conditions, the trek can be closed at any time during these months. It is advisable to check with the local authorities before planning the trek. 


    The weather in the Tarsar Marsar region is unpredictable, and it can change rapidly. During the day, the temperature can range from 15°C to 25°C, while at night, it can drop to 5°C to 10°C. It is essential to carry warm clothes, raincoats, and sunscreen while on the trek. 


    The nearest airport to Srinagar is Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport. From the airport, you can take a taxi to Pahalgam. which is approximately 90 kilometers away. The nearest railway station is Jammu, from Jammu, a shared cab can be taken till Anantnag, and another cab can be taken till Pahalgam. The trek starts from the village of Aru, which is about 12 km from Pahalgam. You can hire a shared taxi to Aru. We at wanderingaviators provide shared cabs for our Trekkers from Srinagar.


    Return and Refund Policy

    Cancellation by the Participant:

     a. If you decide to cancel your trek, please notify us in writing or via email as soon as possible. The cancellation will be effective from the date of receipt of your written notification.

     b. The following cancellation charges will apply based on the notice period provided:

    • More than 30 days prior to the trek start date: 20% of the total trek cost will be charged as cancellation fee.
    • Between 15 to 30 days prior to the trek start date: 50% of the total trek cost will be charged as cancellation fee.
    • Less than 15 days prior to the trek start date: No refund will be provided.

     

    Cancellation by the Us: 

    a. We strive to conduct all treks as scheduled. However, in some rare cases, we may have to cancel a trek due to unforeseen circumstances, such as extreme weather conditions or insufficient participants.

    b. In the event of a cancellation by us, you will be notified as soon as possible. We will provide you with alternative options, such as   rescheduling your trek to a later date or transferring your booking to another trek.

    c. If you choose not to opt for the alternative options provided, you will be eligible for a full refund of the trek cost.

     

     Refunds: 

    a. Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 15 business days from the date of cancellation. 

    b. The refund amount will be calculated after deducting the applicable cancellation charges mentioned above. 


    No-show or Trek abandonment: 

     a. If you fail to join the trek or abandon it once it has commenced, no refund or partial refund will be provided.

     b. Please ensure that you arrive at the designated meeting point on time and participate in the entire trek as scheduled. 


    Travel Insurance:

    a. We highly recommend obtaining comprehensive travel insurance that covers trek cancellations and any potential emergencies or accidents during the trek.

    b. It is the participant's responsibility to arrange suitable insurance coverage.
