The Anglers Paradise is the term first coined by F.J. Mitchell to describe the potential of fishing and angling in Kashmir Valley due to its vast network of rivers, lakes, and streams. The paradise for fishing enthusiasts is rich with a population of brown trout, snow trout, rainbow trout, bass, and other species. The trout, introduced to the region by the British in 1900, is one of the healthiest and tastiest in the world because it lives in oxygen-rich, ice-filled streams. The major rivers, like Lidder, Wangath, Sindh, Kishenganga, etc., are considered the best fishing hotspots. However, there are alpine lakes and streams that offer a unique experience of angling and trekking at the same time and offer a wide variety of trout and other fish.
